I'm fully convinced the phone company has abused the
system. I'm convinced they wrote the initial draft of what became the
Telecommunications Act of 1995. I'm also convinced they had a major
influence on the 1991 Act. I believe they used massive lobbying efforts
and PAC contributions to pass both of these pieces of legislation.
I'm also convinced their primary purpose is to increase
revenues and their bottom line at the expense of their captive customers and
employees.
I'm looking for supporting documentation. On the home
page I asked you to contact me. I am also asking that you send me relevant
information if you would prefer to remain anonymous. I'm not
looking for any information obtained illegally.

Here's the type of information I'm looking for.
- Information on the phone company lobbying activities and
PAC contributions to influence legislation.
- Information on contacts with legislators and government
officials prior to the passage of the Telecom Acts of 1991 and 1995.
- Any information relating to "authorized
representatives" and how they are given access to individual customer
information without the customer's permission.
- Marketing plans of the phone company and authorized
representatives to sign up business customers to long term contracts
following the enactment of the Federal Telecommunications Act of 1996.
- Directions to customer service representatives for
marketing such services as the inside wire maintenance agreements
(Line-BackerŪ Service). (Is there any attempt to explain to customers
that these services are not needed where the wiring is owned by others such
as in apartments, senior citizen homes, nursing homes, assisted living
facilities and other health care facilities?)
- Directions to customer service representatives to fully
explain to new and existing customers the Lifeline Telephone Assistance
Program. (For residents of licensed care facilities where individual
phone service is available, are customer service representatives directed to
inform new customers of the potential savings from this program?)
- Any directions to customer service representatives to
promote costly additional services without fully explaining the cost.
Any information you care to share where you believe the phone
company has added services you did not request or otherwise participated in
questionable practices.
